Belitung provides an alternative beach get away, only 50 minutes away by air from Jakarta. It’s probably the shortest flight to a great beach weekend, short or long.

What the locals call Pulau Pasir is actually a sandy area of about 10 meters wide that emerges during low tide. Most of the times you can find a live starfish or two.
Our boat guide says that the best place to watch sunset is at Pulau Babi Kecil. It literally mean Small Pig Island and of course there’s no pig (small or big) living on the island.
I can’t remember the name of this spot. Maybe it’s time to return to Belitung to find out what it is called.
