As part of my assignment when attending a photojournalism workshop with the Foundry Photojournalism Workshops in Summer 2014, I had the pleasure to tag along with a group of Americans who volunteered at Campos de Sueños – a community center that was established by Iglesia Del Camino in La Antigua, Guatemala in partnership with Iglesia Bautista Aposento Alto in Santa Maria de Jesús.
Volunteering often times bring you out of your comfort zone.

Serving others is the essence of volunteerism.
Prepping the wall for further work.
Working through the mesh.
Always listen to the local leaders when you volunteer.
The “madres” watching over the volunteers.
Who doesn’t like to see pictures?
No kids can resist hand painting.
Colorful nail polish is irresistible for some of the girls.
Never leave home without iPad.
Look at the boy who’s making a persistent plea to get more stickers.
Volunteer yourself to serve others, even when they make you a “canvas.”
